Pre-College University (PCU) partners with community youth organizations who are interested in introducing middle and high school students to transferable skills that will allow them to understand, build upon, and pursue careers in DOE-related disciplines. This will take place by introducing students to the areas of water, soil, and air testing, as well as solar energy. Based on Legacy Management’s mission to become long term stewards of the environment. This program will provide youth with hands-on experience and exposure to these tools and techniques
The COEP Camps are set up as a partnership where PCU provides funding for programmatic activities, content development, and an instructor and peer mentors to work hands-on with the youth. The organization is expected to provide a primary point of contact to work with the PCU Coordinator to ensure all onsite logistics are managed. Additionally, the organization is responsible for community engagement and student participation the in exchange the primary point of contact will receive a stipend. The ideal camp would last a full week, but shorter durations will be considered based upon the circumstances presented. At least 12 participants are required in order to host a camp. Age-appropriate content will be developed based upon information gathered from the attached questionnaire and initial consultation. The camp final deliverable can be based on the interest of the community and participating campers.
